We are the only community gym in Waterford and we're also a registered charity.
Waterford LEDC Ltd is an innovative not-for-profit company which was established between Waterford Crystal and the Ballybeg Community Development Project in 2002. It is a company limited by guarantee and has charitable status.
It was established as a response to the lack of economic activity and the inordinate levels of unemployment in communities experiencing disadvantage in Waterford City. Its aim is the economic regeneration of these communities. Since incorporation, the LEDC has been involved in a number of ventures, significantly the establishment of the Cill Barra Community Sports Centre in Ballybeg in October 2006. The centre aims to address the need for affordable and accessible sports facilities and works closely with the local community, in particular disadvantaged groups, assessing their needs and fulfilling their dreams for a vibrant and healthy lifestyle. The centre employs 2 full time staff and a further 4 staff on CE and TUS programmes, in addition to a part time manager. The centre facilities are used by both individuals and groups, such as - Groups with Disabilities, Youth Groups and Youth Projects, Older Adults Groups, Traveller Groups, Various Community Groups, Local Schools – both Primary & Secondary levels, Local Sporting organisations and many more.

The spirit of our Sports Centre is to be a customer orientated facility known for the delivery of a quality, professional service by enthusiastic and friendly staff. We strive to provide a balance of programmes to cater for all the members of our community irrespective of means. We strive to be the primary community resource for meeting the Health and Fitness needs of our community
